Limited by human weakness, transformed by Jesus.
Read: 2 Corinthians 12:1-10
We all have times when life feels unmanageable, out of control, and overwhelming. Our human weaknesses cause us to become insecure. Our emotions are all over the place; we stress, eat more or eat less, become depressed, shut down, or make poor decisions because we can no longer focus on our own strength. We even go as far as putting conditions on our prayer requests.
“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9.
What is something in your life that you currently feel powerless over and seem to be spiraling out of control?
In 2 Corinthians 12, the apostle Paul discusses the concept of relying on Jesus' strength in times of weakness, such as when facing insults, persecution, and tragedy. One way to implement this in your own life is to replace negative habits with a focus on acknowledging Jesus' strength during difficult and overwhelming times.
How can you incorporate these new practice ideas into your current situation?
In trying times, we try to find hope in many different things and can forget Jesus’ capable power. Sure, we will pray for the change in others, but what about that change God is trying to make in us? Jesus needs us to trust him to bring hope through our sacrifices during difficult times. Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice, especially for you. Because of Jesus, hope is real!
God’s grace comforts us, showing us support and strength beyond our comprehension. When things are out of our control, we must admit the only way is to turn to our divine power of God. Choose to give him the glory of the experience and provisions that bless us through trials. Surrender all you feel powerless over, knowing the most extraordinary power of all is following you and will not depart from your presence. Nothing is too small or significant for us to seek Jesus' help.
PRAY
Lord,
You are my creator and father. You want me to want you more than I want anything else. You want a relationship with me without conditions when times feel powerless. You are more powerful than anything or anyone else. You are accepting, faithful, forgiving, grace-giving, loving, and perfect. You know all, even before I think about it or do it. You are a comforter and listener. You are all things good. I seek your strength during my weakest moments.
In Jesus’ name, Amen!
